Strategic Skills Initiative
(Embedded Systems
Economic Growth Cluster)
The CEC is collaborating with a group of high-tech
software and programming companies that currently
meet monthly to align skill training needs among
members. A Strategic Skills Initiative Grant of
$250,000 is being used to pay for very specialized
technical training. The grant language was recently
amended to include more real-time operating system
certifications than the original grant included.
Joint-partnerships have formed among members of the
group and the feasibility of new shared facility
space at the InfoTech Park which is located on
Columbus Municipal Airport property.
The Embedded Systems Initiative has three
objectives:
 |
Determine opportunities for cooperative growth and
resource sharing among group members. |
 |
Discover a process for technology commercialization
by connecting the cluster to university intellectual
property and licensing opportunities |
 |
Help in the process of developing a qualified
workforce for the cluster by providing skills
training grants, talent attraction events, and
internship opportunities. |
